Vegan Indian Cookery Course

What they say: “Simply Vegan

Indian cuisine has always provided a nutritious and satisfying home for vegetarians so it's no surprise that it caters brilliantly for vegans too. On this course we'll show how Indian store cupboard staples can yield protein-rich meals, cook with typical Indian vegetables, create simple, flavourful chutneys and make a chunky meat-free biriyani. Along with tangy, aromatic daal you'll learn at least 5 items and of course you don't have to be a vegan to join in!”

Spice Monkey

What we say: The Vegan Spice Monkey cookery course has been the most educational Indian Cookery course I have attended so far. I came away from this course feeling I had a better understanding of balancing spices and how to correctly cook with spices.

The participants in my group were predominantly flexitarians wanting to skill up so they could include more vegan meals in their repertoire. Nikita Gulhane is a warm host and due to his background as a journalist, he is very interested in getting to know the group, which can mean he gets slightly sidetracked by chat and our session ran over time. However, Nik is a very knowledgeable teacher having worked on projects with Madhur Jaffrey, among others. His mother Mrs. G is part of the team and she taught us how to make traditional Indian bread. Everyone in the group seemed to really enjoy the session and we sat down in Nik’s dining room to eat the delicious meal we had all worked to prepare. With some cookery courses, you can feel a little disjointed from the actual creation of a finished dish but this was a very personal experience and I couldn’t wait to get home to try making the dishes myself. The difference with this course was definitely Nik's warmth and his passion for the cuisine. You genuinely feel that he enjoys the course just as much as you do.

Overall, an authentic experience cooking delicious Indian recipes.
